https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16wYamogXe/Yesterday something quietly extraordinary happened.
As the Peace Walk monks passed through Raleigh, they stopped when they saw a painting I’d made in response to their journey through North Carolina. I was hoping for a nod or a smile. Instead, they paused, recognized themselves, laughed, hugged me, and shared the moment.
I’m grateful — for their generosity, their discipline, and mindful paths intersecting mindful paths in the world.
Thank you to WRAL for documenting both the making of the painting and the encounter, and to the monks for sharing the moment so openly.
I’ll be showing the (wet!) painting as part of Intimate North Carolina at The Skylight Gallery in Hillsborough (Jan 30–Feb 22).
